The Morellino di Scansano DOCG is made from 85% Sangiovese grapes. For the assemblage we use Cabernet-Sauvignon, Montepulciano, Canaiolo and Petit Verdot.
After controlled fermentation at 28°C the wine ages in a vaulted cellar underneath the medieval church of Scansano. We use French tonneaux (Allier oak, medium toasted) in a decent manner in order to complement the wines proper flavours and not to alter them. The Morellino shines in a ruby-red colour, it’s bouquet comprises morello cherry, dark berries, vanilla and toasting flavours. Delicate tannins ensure complexity and a long, velvet finish completes the savour.
It is ideally served with antipasti, homemade pasta, risotto, steak and elaborate grill dishes.
